The New Idea - Part One (07/12/2009)

by Zachary L. Power

Here comes the new idea; it's flowing straight through ya
Here comes the new idea; it's flowing straight to ya

Here comes the new idea; it's flowing straight through ya
Here comes the new idea; it's flowing straight to ya

Straight out of Lansing, Michigan
Fate wheeled a fortune round again
Listen. You will hear of tales so true
Listen and I will hear yours too

Nothing ever seemed so commonplace
As when you put the stone back in its place
Dirtied up your shoes, restored his face
La madre y El padre van ya sabes

The doctor warmed her Mama
And chica niña chilled her mama with her frozen feet

Venture past the thorns and promis me
You'll make it through the gates of eternity

She followed her heart through the warm black night's glow
For that night was calling her like a Red farm alarm

Oh, crescent moon of confusion hanging low in the Spanish sky
I'lve asked you and again I'll ask you now to cry
To cry for the fallen
Those struck down, unbadged
To cry for the living
Those held down by our not-Captain

Straight out of our land, my shyness sings
To bring her the fortune that only I bring
And this gospel slogan hymn from within
Is all freestyle expression that you all have dressed in

The arbor where fawns lay to speak with each other
Sweetens in the sunrise until all tree leaves have eaten
Breathe in the wonder up-swept by adventure, and
Breathe out the sensation that haunts like dark playgrounds
The smoldering branches, the faint tune it launches
Perspire not, for legions of of our saviors await past the smoke stacks

She followed her heart to the root of some magic
for the exciting aptitude affording her shiny gold key

Oh, crescent moon of madness hanging high in the Spanish sky
I've asked you and again I'll ask you now to cry
To cry for the fallen
Those struck down, un-badged
To cry for the living
Those held down by our not-Captain
To cry for the sickened, the vain, and the wicked
To cry for those of us that, at times, may hunger
To cry for the children that cry out for their Fathers
To cry for the children that cry out for their Mothers
To cry out for our brothers and sisters who wait, still imprisoned
To cry for the lovers who escaped but run recklessly
We cry for the Full Moon
La Luna, La Luna
We cry for the full moon
La Luna, La Luna!
