Memorize This (07/12/2009)

by Zachary L. Power
revised & edited by Tony & Zach

You shouldn't have to ask me
What it is that jacks me
All they ever can see
Are air dust flecks that mask me

You say you've listened carefully
But I've just begun to speak
We chase the tail that leads so closely
As you and I pick up speed

I've noticed that you like me
Not so much as I like thee
Water flowing through your seas and gullies
Ferns, caverns, and divine pine trees

Lessons learned in your school highly
Refrain to repeats all too unlikely
These truths explained to not take kindly
To agitated female mosquitoes stinging
Sucking, bleeding holes to feed whole colonies
They bathe and sleep with all eyes widely
Opening into new mornings until nightly
They pray to moons to save their babies

Back in the deep woods of our slavery
We know now what or who wills bravery
This present that you gave me
Will greatly feed me daily

Stripped down to down-filled draperies
I'll lay down with you comfortably
If comfort is what your aim seeks
I'll scope out this whole galaxy

Moments crystallized by unsurprised findings
Comment upon blue-blackened bird seeings
Excuse the altered wording
Unless it was your phrase I'm using

Improvements on home-front sidings
Work our bodies one more to chime rings
Deciding that we've been once cleaning
Memorize this and get back to me
